Dating Tips That Will Get You a Second Date

July 7th, 2009

The most important part of your first dating with anyone is whether or not it will lead to a second date. Sometimes the chances that your dating will be giving you a ring in the days to come lie on not how much you can do right, but on whether or not you manage to do anything monumentally wrong. Sometimes it can take a date or two to get those sparks flying. The problem is that just a wrong move or two can ensure that those sparks will never even begin to shine. Following these simple rules won’t make you a passionate romantic; however, they will ensure that you don’t get labeled superficially before your new friend has a chance to form a real opinion.
tips to get second date
You should feel like you are comfortable enough to be yourself on a first date; however, that doesn’t give you the right to do whatever you want. It may seem obvious at first, but if you and your date are hanging out at a bar or share a few drinks over dinner you need to be on your best watch the you don’t have a few too many. Regardless of what you might see on TV or in the movies, drunk is never charming when you first meet someone. How turned on are you going to be if you date gets wasted? Excess isn’t just something to keep in mind when you drink. Don’t stuff your face either. Eat however much you want, but don’t look like you’re eating your first meal in weeks.

What you drink and how you eat aren’t the only things to keep in mind. Conversation is a delicate art. It is a lot like dancing in the way that is it delicate and shouldn’t be forceful. You can lead, but don’t be too pushy. There lies a time and a place to talk about everything; however, controversial topics should stay off the table in a first date. These issues can make a decent evening go sour very quickly. You don’t want to get pigeonholed because the vote a certain way or follow a different religion. Try to keep the focus of the conversation off or yourself. Make sure you ask as many questions as you answer. You should be able to read your date to see if they are really enjoying the conversation or if they’re just struggling to hang on.

Don’t try to play like you are some character. Being yourself is still the most important part when meeting new people and build new relationship but let them settle into you. There is no need to be intense or in your face when first meeting someone. Let them fall for you. Don’t push them.

Relationships Over Distance

long distance relathionshipHow Far Is Too Far?Relationships Over Distance
The world is getting smaller at an alarming rate and this seemingly makes the long distance relationship easier. There are a lot of different factors that make a long distance relationship way more feasible in today’s world than ever before. The world of Skype and the internet has taken the physical distances between people and condensed them down into a few clicks of the mouse.
Before the internet and long distance phone plans, people who moved far away were limited to a few visits and physical correspondence with letters if they wanted to keep in touch. It seems inconvenient when you think of a world that didn’t allow for instantaneous communication but it also sheds some thoughts on a more romantic time. One where if people wanted to keep their romance alive, they did so through long letters filled with loving words and wishes for the future. The internet has really closed that physical gap and the time gap.
Instead of getting a letter every couple of weeks explaining the general condition and feelings of your significant other, now you’re up to date by the minute like they’re standing next to you all the time. If you’ve managed to wrangle up the whole lot of the internet networking tools, the extent of your communication has grown to be rather limitless. You can leave messages for each other, send e-mails, call each other for barely anything with Skype, facebook, friendster, and it will be like the two of you never left each other’s side.
Does all that electronic business really take the place of real human contact? It does make the distance a lot more bearable but there is nothing in the world that takes the place of being with your special person. Once you get father than a day’s drive away you still find yourself in a real long distance relationship. You need to rely on your new found technology to let the two of you feel close as if you don’t have as many miles between you because it will take a lot of stress on the both of you. It will be fun to talk to each other on web cams and e-mail back and forth as much as you want at first; however, as with all things the honeymoon will soon end and you will really need to dig down deep inside yourself.
What you’re digging for are those moments that brought you together in the first place. Those small elements of magic that make humans (well some humans) cling to committed monogamous relationships. The feelings that make seeing someone a handful of times a year and experiencing most of the gems of each other’s everyday lives worth it. You’re setting yourself up to trade in those small sparks and quiet victories for those big victories. The victories that lie in the way your heart skips when you see that special someone walk down from the airport gate and the magic in realizing what it truly means to make the most of the time you have. so many kind of relathionship, this is relationship at work

When it’s Over – To Friend or Not to Friend?

June 17th, 2009

friend or not a friendSome end tragically and messy and others just burn out and fade away. The one overwhelming thing that all finished relationships have in common is that they’re all over. When the smoke clears and the dust settles there is often a good deal of assessing to do just to realize where everyone stands.
If this was a long term relationship that failed there might be a good deal of possessions to re-exchange. CD’s, clothes, sentimental gifts you can’t stand the sight of anymore, and all those pictures you may or may not have laying around need to find their way back to your former sidekick, into a shoebox in your closet, or to the bottom of the dumpster behind Wal-Mart. Whether you can hold on to your old mementos is really up to you; however, the one big question that lies at the end of every break-up speech is “Can we still be friends?” We all want to think it can be true because it seems like the right thing to do; however, it is not always in everyone’s best interest.
Of course if your break-up is full of violence and carnage you’ll answer that question with a resounding “no”; however, you might consider it again after all the initial anger fades away. You should remember that under the relationship and all the rest you still had a friendship as well. Working through all the issues that made the two of you terminate the relationship in the first place accompanied by the task of transitioning from a romantic relationship to a platonic relationship is no small task. If you can move on, you may find that you’ll be able to establish a friendship with someone who knows you very well.
Keep in mind that this process can take a long time and often the previous relationship must be completely terminated before a new friendship can start. Keep in mind that you may not want your previous baggage following you around when you try to move forward in life. Just because you may have made a decent pair at one time doesn’t guarantee that you can transition into a functioning, healthy friendship.
Keep all of these ideas in mind when deciding to invest yourself further into a relationship or cut your losses. Sometimes it will be the case that no matter how much time has passes or how much progress seems to have been made; the wounds will always be too fresh to be anything other than exes. Regardless of what you may want to unfold, attempting to forcefully influence the progress and growth of these can also leave you out in the cold. Just let things take their course and make sure you have your best interests in mind without hurting your former significant other.
